Matagorda County Fair

     One of the best parts of living in a small town is the County Fair. Each year the girls get excited knowing that throughout the entire weekend they can burn all of their energy out going on ride after ride by simply showing an arm band and then running past the man running the ride(s). The atmosphere on clear nights is alive with the laughter of children and parents yelling "Get back over here".

     Cadence for the most part loves the little rides. Be it a replica of the Dumbo ride from Disneyworld, or the big Fun House with the mirror-maze; she can go on the same ride over and over again for a straight hour if you let her. Above you see her enjoying the night with one of her rare smiles showing just how much she fun is having.

     Jasmine continues to be our little country girl. She loves seeing the petting zoo each year where she can grab hold of a little baby pig or lamb, as well as feeding some of the bigger animals from her hands. After visiting the animals though, she loves to get an adrenaline rush riding some of the crazier rides while giving us a heart attack. She has my fear of heights though and won't go near the big Ferris Wheel.

     One of the best parts about the fair for us is watching the girls have fun together. They may not get along while playing in their room, but watching them work together to conquer their goals of riding each ride as many times as possible is something to be proud of. As you can see above, they do from time to time enjoy being with each other regardless of what any of their friends think. Let's hope this last a long time.

     What would a fair be without the junk food. Candy Apples, Cotton Candy, Foot-long Corndogs, Funnel Cakes, etc. You can get anything and everything on a warm Texas night here at the Matagorda County Fair. Sometimes they have fried foods that sound like something out of Japan, while other times they have some of the most creative grilled recipes this side of the county line! Nevertheless, there is always something good to eat - for the right price of course.

    So there you have it, a fun filled night under the stars at the local county fair. Cadence and Jasmine leave you with more pictures of them enjoying some of the more traditional fair rides.
